Hello and welcome to my website...

Introduction...

Have you noticed how professionally prepared, high quality sheet music for Scottish accordion can be hard to come by. Sheet music that transcribes the basses as well as the melody. Sheet music that displays the ornamentation and harmonies used by professional musicians. I was very conscious of this throughout my musical career, but maybe I should begin by saying something about myself.

I trained as a classical pianist at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in the 1960s before going on to study accordion under Sylvia Wilson in Glasgow some years later, and have taught both piano and accordion while enjoying a wide-ranging musical career playing in various bands and music groups.

When I retired I decided to devote my time to producing quality arrangements for the traditional Scottish music I had added to my accordion repertoire over the years, and to make these available to both self-improvers and teachers alike.

"very high quality" - Jim Leighton, Music In Scotland Ltd

“highly recommended” - Murray Balfour, Highland Accordions, Inverness

"fantastic arrangements of some lovely tunes” - Thomas Laurie, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire

"As someone new to Scottish music, this website is a perfect educational tool. The musical clips, descriptions
of the styles, and excellent transcriptions helped me jump right in to playing my first reel with a smallpiper the
very next day!  The service is quick and fairly priced for the work." - Katy Hartman, Wyoming, USA

About my website...

I've tried to anticipate your questions here but do please get in touch if there is something you would like to ask.  I always enjoy hearing from other accordion players.

Q.  What can I expect on this website?

A.  Sheet music for traditional Scottish and Gaelic music I've arranged for accordion, and my accordion music books and CDs.  (I've recently added a page for Damfankle, the Ceilidh Band that I'm involved with, as well as an information page about free Ceilidh Dance sessions I offer over 50s in the local community centre, here in Inverness.)

Q.  Can I immediately download my sheet music?

A.   I'd love to be able to offer that but this isn't a website capable of providing an instant digital download. What it is, is a pretty basic but functional website that keeps costs down to a minimum but which will meet your requirements for quality accordion sheet music.

Q.  So how does it work, then?

A.  All sheet music is available in PDF format.  In the Sheet Music Catalogue titles are listed in categories with links to audio samples and to where you can view the sheet music and make a purchase.

Q.  The sheet music appears very small / large.

A.   Click on the enlarge / reduce buttons to change the page size.

Q.   Can I hear the music before I make my purchase?

A.   Audio samples are available for every title.  Use the audio sample link to take you to my audio file host, 'Internet Archive'.  Here you can listen to the audio sample.

Q.   Okay.  I've found something I like.  How do I buy it?
A.    Whether it's sheet music, a music book, eBook or CD simply click the Paypal button below the item. This will take you to the checkout page.  Here, you have the option of paying using PayPal or your own bank account. I'm notified as soon as payment is made and I'll send you your sheet music as an email attachment, or arrange delivery of your book or CD, without delay.

An updated Sheet Music Catalogue And Prices will shortly be available to download as a PDF file.

Your feedback is important to me as it helps me shape delivery of the best possible service I can provide.  Please feel free to comment using the CONTACT email link on the website.
