The composer of the bagpipe tune 'The 71st Highland Light Infantry's Quickstep' is Pipe Major Hugh MacKay (1801-1864). MacKay, born in the Reay country of Scotland, famously served as the Pipe Major for the 71st Regiment from 1836 to 1851. His composition remains one of the most recognisable and widely played 2/4 marches in traditional Scottish piping competitions today. Arranged for accordion.
